GiantMouse GMF1-FS

GiantMouse GMF1-FS

Does it always have to be a folding knife?

We say: No! In recent years, one type of knife has become particularly popular: the small pocket fixed blade.

With the GiantMouse GMF1-FS you get a small but incredibly sturdy knife that comes with a well fitted, hand made in Italy leather sheath to carry in your pocket or on the belt.

With a total length of only 138 mm and its low weight, this small fixed blade knife hardly takes up any space. The entire knife is milled from one solid piece of Böhler M390 steel. The highly rust-resistant steel alloy has the ability to hold an edge for a very long time. While still being relatively easily to resharpen the GMF1-FS can master the cutting tasks of everyday life with flying colors.

The skeletonized handle of the GMF1 has deliberately not been equipped with scales, which of course has a positive effect on weight cutting, but also allows you to apply a Paracord wrapping of your choice. Thanks to the slightly curved handle, the GMF1-FS fits very well in the hand - only very large hands might have difficulties here and could use a lanyard for additional support.

Böker Plus Nessmi Pro Voxnaes Design Small every day carry fixed blade  Micarta scales and red liner D2 Steel  Leather sheath included Very versatile The small one for on the go Böker reworked their Nessmi and with the Nessmi Pro they are launching a new version of this fantastic Jesper Voxnaes design. As the name suggests, this is a tribute to the classic Nessmuk shape. This original design goes back to the adventurer George W. Sears, who lived in the USA from 1821 to 1890 and is one of the most important names of the outdoor, camping and bushcraft scene there. Sears wrote his books and articles under the pseudonym "Nessmuk", which in turn is the name giver for the Böker Plus Nessmi Pro. This full tang knife is made of solid D2 steel, which is considered to be extremely tough, durable and keeps the cutting edge sharp for a long time. Following the tradition of the classic Nessmuk knives, the blade has the typical upward sweep and a slight hump on the back of the blade towards the tip. This serves to make the tip of the knife a little easier to guide during hunting applications. For the handle scales Böker Plus has decided to use a coarse Micarta with red liners. The are held in place with two big hollow rivets which also serve as lanyard hole. The finger choil on the ricasso allows a large force transmission to the blade, so that even harder woodworking jobs are no problem with the Nessmi Pro. Together with the leather sheath Böker Plus delivers an impressive package with a great price to performance ratio. Whether in the forest or as an urban EDC-knife in your pocket: the Nessmi Pro is definitely one of the most versatile small fixed knives we know.

Giantmouse ACE Nimbus V2 Micarta
Giantmouse Nimbus V2 Micarta  New revised version Design by Jesper Voxnaes and Jens Anso Green micarta handle and Elmax blade This novelty makes the hearts of many fans of the big mouse beat faster: the Nimbus, one of the very early designs of GiantMouse, gets an update. Although a lot has changed, the knife has basically remained the same. The GiantMouse Nimbus is still not a saint - as the name of the knife suggests. On the contrary: this knife is a merciless workhorse with which you can really nibble something away.   Voxnaes and Anso were inspired by the old Danish motorcycle brand Nimbus, which was built from 1915 until late in the 1950s. Now you are right to ask what a knife has to do with a motorcycle.  But the comparison is actually quite accurate: the motorcycle was not so much a racing machine as a 'workhorse', which also scored well in the off-road sector. With exactly this philosophy in mind, the Nimbus was designed.   A knife without frills and a blade that represents a modern interpretation of the Nordic puuko shape, with a bulbous curve that leads to a fine but robust tip that allows for fine cuts without any problems.   The function of the knife was also the main consideration in the choice of materials. The V2 version uses a 3D contoured Micarta, as we know it from the GiantMouse Ace Biblio. Micarta is not only very robust but can also be easily cleaned with a little water after work.    The liners, made of Asis 420 stainless steel, make the knife even more stable and the Liner Lock ensures that the blade is securely locked when open. In contrast to the first version, the Nimbus V2 now has washers made of phosphor bronze, which provide a little more stability and are very easy to clean. Also the blade has been updated: Böhler's Elmax steel is one of the best blade steels currently available in the industry. Here you get a 3.5mm thick blade, which is equally rust-resistant, tough and has good cutting properties and can handle even tougher cutting tasks effortlessly.   The Nimbus is clearly a real working knife that will find a new home in your toolbox, jacket pocket or work trousers.

Trayvax Trek Field Knife
Trayvax Trek Field Knife Retrieve with right hand for front or vertical carry. Retrieve with left hand for Scout-carry. Lightweight Skeletonized Frame 3.5" Hybrid Blade Glassbreaker Premium CPM S35VN Stainless Steel Made in USA Lightweight all-rounder Trayvax have done it: after a successful Kickstarter campaign Trayvax produce their first fixed blade in series. What's special: this knife is created entirely using state-of-the-art CNC milling technology. As one of the most important manufacturers of modern cardholder wallets and other EDC items, it's no surprise that Trayvax now have a knife in their lineup with the Trek Field Knife. The idea behind this compact fixed is to offer a knife for everyday use and almost all situations. The choice therefore fell on a slim and extremely lightweight all-steel design. The entire knife is milled from a solid piece of CPM S35VN steel. Thanks to the skeletonization of the handle, the Trek Field Knife is quite a bit lighter than one would initially expect. The end of the handle, by the way, was designed to create a sort of striking point that is meant to be used as a glass breaker in emergency situations. The ratio of the handle to the blade was chosen so that the knife is as balanced as possible in the hand. Another special feature of the Trek Field Knife is the blade grind: strictly speaking, you can't even speak of a grind here, as the entire blade was also milled, which you can see in the fine grooves. These provide for a unique look of the Trek Field Knife. Towards the tip, there is a small belly on the cutting edge, so that the knife almost gets like a slight tanto shape. The Trek Field Knife comes of course with a custom made leather sheath (of course in the usual Trayvax leather quality), which you can wear either vertically or horizontally. So that you don't lose your Trek Field Knife, the knife is secured with a small loop and a push button. If you are looking for a compact and ultra-light fixed, for example for a hike, then the Trayvax Trek Field Knife could be the right choice.
