KnifeLounge X Otter Knife

After the first two KnifeLounge Exclusive knives were a huge success, the next collaboration is now in the starting blocks. Otter knives from Solingen have outdone themselves and created their model York for us in an exclusive run with Micarta handle scales. We are incredibly pleased that this collaboration has worked out, and it is a very great honor to be able to work with one of the oldest German manufacturers in the field of pocket knives.

The York

Small, slim and handy - that's how Otter knives describe their model York itself. Well, that's true, but still the York is much more than just a compact pocket knife. First of all, there is the exceptionally shaped blade made of very rust-resistant 440C steel. Thanks to the low thickness of only 2mm, the blade tapers to a needle fine point, so that you can handle even the finest cutting tasks without any problems. Whether in use as an all-round knife in your pocket or as a knife for your next visit to the steakhouse, is of course entirely up to you. The handle is shaped to provide a secure yet universal grip. A special feature of the York is that it is not a fully riveted construction. Thanks to the included tool, you can adjust the knife's axle screw in case some blade play sets in after long use. Of course, the iconic Otter logo on the axle screw should not be missing. To prevent the knife from accidentally folding during use, the York has a slipjoint spring that provides enough grip but won't break your fingernails when you open it with a nail biter.

KnifeLounge Exclusive

So what's so exclusive about this version of the York? Otter have taken an interesting step here and for the first time in their company history have made a pocket knife with handle scales made of Micarta. For a modern look and that extra bit of grip, the entire handle has been bead blasted to create a matte finish on both the micarta and the back spring. The textile fibers of the micarta take on a beautiful and, above all, very personal patina over time - making your York a true one-of-a-kind. If the used look is too much for you, you can easily restore the knife to its original condition with a little warm water and a dab of hand soap.
