THE KA-BAR

The Hinderer Kabar is Rick Hinderer's interpretation of one of the most important knives of all time. This is actually about THE tactical fixed blade – the KA-BAR USMC Knife.
This knife has been produced by KA-BAR since the Second World War and has been used by countless armed forces in almost all global conflicts in recent decades. Of course, Rick Hinderer did not miss the opportunity to translate this iconic design into the typical Hinderer production method. An original USMC Mark II knife served as a template.

So what is different from the original?

First of all, there is the steel and the construction: the blade made of ultra-durable CPM-3V steel is designed in a full tang construction, which means that the tang extends to the end of the handle. Micarta handle scales are placed on top, fitting seamlessly between the striking end and the anodized aluminum bolsters. Despite its complexity, the entire handle construction is perfectly fitting and executed with Hinderer's trademark precision. A major difference to the original KA-BAR is the handle recess: this allows you to grip in front of the finger guard, putting maximum pressure on the cutting edge. The blade is next to the long Fuller, the blade has a perfectly proportioned swedge so that you not only get a versatile fixed blade, but also a beautiful one.

Perhaps you are wondering why the KA-BAR logo is on the blade next to the Hinderer logo.
For almost all knife fans, the USMC Utility Knife is simply “the Kabar”. To do justice to this fact, Rick Hinderer simply contacted KA-BAR and explained that he wanted to pay tribute to this great knife design and asked if he could inscribe his blades with “KA-BAR”. They were thrilled with the idea, and so Rick Hinderer is the first knife maker to be licensed to add this iconic lettering to one of his products.
